Dear Brand New Me Customer,
 
As a result of regulations imposed by SAHPRA, we have not been able to manufacture or officially sell our Sutherlandia OPC product online since Feb 2024. 
 
The Alliance of National Health Products (South Africa) took SAHPRA to court in 2018 and won their case which stated “SAHPRA exceeded their regulatory powers by attempting to regulate complementary medicines”. The ruling implied that SAHPRA cannot regulate complementary medicines, and manufacturers may not need to register their products with SAHPRA. In April 2022, SAHPRA appealed the High Court’s decision but the appeal was dismissed with costs. Despite losing these two cases, SAHPRA continues to regulate complementary medicines. 

In February 2024, the SAHPRA demanded that we stop manufacturing and selling our OPC. 
 
The Future for Brand New Me: currently the Alliance of National Health Products (South Africa) are seeking to compel SAHPRA to draft new legislation in alignment with the High Court Judgements. Once these amendments are in place, Brand New Me should be cleared to officially manufacture and sell our Sutherlandia OPC product again.
